Shakti Dance®

Shakti is the primordial creative energy of the universe. By practicing Shakti Dance, we can awaken this creative flow that also lives within us, and expand our consciousness to express the infinite creative potential of the soul in every aspect of our lives.

Shakti Dance, like Yoga, has as its purpose the release of Prana, the vital energy, to provide greater psychophysical and spiritual well-being to those who practice it. Based on the teachings of Tantric Yoga from India, it uses different tools (dynamic asanas, various styles of dance, Mantras and Pranayama and meditation) to tune body, breathing and mental focus, bringing us into a state of Union of our individual souls with the Soul. universal.

Created more than 20 years ago by the English yogini and teacher Sara Avtar Olivier, it is a living practice in constant evolution and transformation.

The word Shakti comes from Sanskrit, the ancient sacred language of India, and means can, in the sense of being able to act, create, manifest. Shakti is also the name used to indicate the Great Divine Mother and her triple aspects, creator, maintainer and destroyer of all that exists.

Shakti Dance uses organic, fluid and rhythmic movements to harmonize the mind, body and spirit, in order to manifest the full expression of our potential.

As a form of Yoga combines breathing, movement, music, sacred sounds, mantras and meditation, it helps us tune our body as an instrument to express our essence, with creativity and authenticity. The mind and body harmonize allowing the Creative Spirit of Shakti to shine and assume the full expression of our potential.

It consists of a series of innovative techniques, combined in eight phases, that implement ideas drawn from yogic philosophy and the practice of Kundalini yoga.

The 8 phases consist of Tuning, Flowing Asanas, Standing Dancing Exercises, Free Dance, Relaxation, Meditation in Silence and/or in movement, Closing Mantra.

Through the practice of Shakti Dance®, the free, organic and creative expression of the inner being is cultivated. At the same time it frees the body and mind from blockages, relaxing stress, opening the practitioner to an awakened and peaceful state of being and a fluidly elegant life.

"The soul is reflected and expressed through our dance when we are in the most intimate contact with that Being that animates us."
